The Grand Traverse Chorus is Traverse City's oldest vocal ensemble for women. Its purpose is to provide opportunity for women to sing, learn about music, and promote the barbershop musical style.
In the 2008 Region 2 Competition, our chorus placed 2nd in Division A (those choruses with 30 or fewer singers onstage) and 6th overall. In 2007 our chorus sponsored the first TC Idol contest, with five young finalists appearing in our annual show, last September. Since then, we've moved into a new rehearsal space, two new members were added to the risers, we brought Christmas cheer to assisted living facilities, and sold out our Singing Valentines. We're all looking forward to singing and improving our musical skills in the coming months, adding new members, and bringing the joy of music to many people.
The quartet Sashay was the fourth highest scoring quartet of the 12 quartets at the April 2008 Sweet Adelines Region 2 Competition. What a great performance it was too!
